PL called in saying that donors being able to see how much other donors are giving to their project would incentivize larger donations i.e. if a donor was thinking of giving 50 but see donations of 100 they might then donate 100 (similar effect to seeing money already in a tip jar)

Other sites such as Gofundme allow you to see a list of who has donated (and how long ago). Please see the following link for an example https://www.gofundme.com/GirlUpUganda . I agree with Kevin Conroy that this could help motivate other donors.

Donors should agree, otherwise I think it is not necessary.

I like the idea as long as donor has an opportunity to say yes or no to being listed. It should not be opt out, but a clear choice. Maybe opt in is the way to go.

I would not like to put donors names out there. I would not want my name to be out there either.

Not needed. Not advised.

A great idea. Definitely need to ask consent of donors at the time of donation.

Yes, especially if the donor is agreeing and willing to share that. Many crowdfunding sites do that and many donors may feel great to have their names up on the page associated with the project. Maybe donors can chose a Public/Private checkbox when making the donation?

Mansi: I agree, as long as there is the option for donors to choose whether they want their donation to be public or private, then this would be good.

Question? What is the policy rational for this change? Any data supporting the suggestion here?
Comment. Generally, fifthded... while I usually prefer the ol' Cass Sunstein "opt-out" option, perhaps "Opt In" makes sense to navigate the concerns expressed here. This sasid, "opt in" could render moot the benefit...
